Debbie Mathew started practicing yoga in 1981. "It has truly been the guiding light of my evolution as a human being. When I explore the practice and wisdom of yoga deeply, I gain wisdom, compassion and feel the expression of my greatest potential."
Debbie has taught under various circumstance (as a wilderness guide, in
the Art Dept at the University of Wyoming...) for 30 years. She has a
200 hour yoga certification through Yoga Alliance and began teaching
yoga exclusively in 2003. She has taught well over 1000 hours of yoga in
the forms of classes, workshops, courses and private consults, earning
her an E (experienced) beside her Yoga Alliance affiliation.
Debbie's teaching styles includes the integrity of Iyengar alignment and the wisdom and heart of many ancient teachings, including Eastern & Western traditions. Her teaching is also influenced by many contemporary teachers she has studied with, including Pranayama (breathing techniques) at the Rocky Mountain Institute of Yoga & Ayurveda. She has studied & practiced many forms of Meditation, and completed a teacher training on Yoga Nidra/integrative restoration with Richard Miller. Debbie recently completed a 60 hours intensive 'Yoga Therapeutics' Course under the direction of Aadil Palkhivala of Purna Yoga, in Bellevue, WA.
Debbie owned and managed her own studio in downtown Laramie, the Yoga Space, from
2003-2008. After a sabbatical in Hawaii, she returned, built a home studio, and is
continuing her
commitment to provide the community with a range of extraordinary yogic
related services intended to heal and engage the potential of every
participant.
"My AIM is to offer opportunities to learn to live a yogic lifestyle, which ultimately addresses our energetic potential to live at a higher plane of existance than we currently do. I feel it is important to keep the physical body healthy, to respect the body as a temple for the evolution of our individual soul. My intention is to offer you skills, techniques and ideas for contemplation, that merge well with all faiths, or no-faiths. Yoga is a personal journey, yet one's evolution can be celebrated within a community structure. My intention is that my offerings cultivate individual, communal and planetary evolution. I desire to integrate the wisdom of all spiritual traditions, honoring the unity in diversity."
Namaste (the light within me bows to the light within you)
